After a week of dealing with Tropical Storm Beryl and the crappy weather she brought, I finally had a beach day today. It was so refreshing. The storm pretty much stayed above us and just gave us sporadic rain storms, horrendous thunderstorms and really dangerous waves at the beach.
One 18 year old decided to go in and jump the waves the day after the storm had moved north. He lost his balance, was sucked under and washed up the next day 6 miles away. This verifies why I don't go in the ocean much unless it's a pretty calm surf. Very sad situation.
So what have I been doing during this quiet phase? Well, first let me show you a wonderful gift I received in the mail.

This lovely painting came from my dear friend Mynx at
Lizard Happy all the way from across the globe in Australia. I am one of her biggest admirers of both her blog and her art work. I just love the colors in this painting and it now proudly sits displayed on my bookshelf next to another painting that came from her as well. I consider myself a very lucky lady to have her work in my home.
I think the reason why I have lizards crawling across my windows, up my door and all over the sidewalks is because they want to come in and get a closer look at the lizard painting she did for me....;-) Thank you so much Mynx. I treasure your artwork and your friendship more than you know.
Now as for what else I've been up to, Bruce and I have been continuing our exploration of Daytona Beach area. We found a beautiful lighthouse, a marina with yachts and some beautiful scenic streets. Here's a few pictures to share.

| I'm asking Santa to put this on the list. I've been nice. |
 |
| However, this one will do if Santa so chooses. |
 |
| But Santa, I've been really, really good. How about this one instead?! |

| Never get tired of the south's beautiful trees. |
Other than that folks...I will catch up with you all again soon. Hugs!
Lovely paintings. Mynx is such a clever girl. Your new area looks lovely :)
ReplyDeleteMynx truly is one of a kind Barb, it's great of her to send you some of her awesome artwork. I love the photos from Florida too, it's cool that you and Bruce are continuing to have such a fun time.
ReplyDeleteLast time I was in Daytona Beach was 1976, Barb. I'm glad you didn't get hit too hard by the storm. It gave us some beneficial rain and refreshing breeze. You are very lucky to have that beautiful artwork from Mynx in your home. I agree - the colors are gorgeous. Have a great week ahead, dear friend!
ReplyDeleteYou are indeed one lucky lady and it's good you understand that nature tends to do it's own thing.
ReplyDeleteThose are some lovely sights :) I also love the picture. I was able to recognise it as a Mynx :) I have one of her pictures too and they really are great, and it's good to actually own one. They look better in real life.
ReplyDeleteMany of us know Mynx she is a lovely woman and talented artist I have one of her pieces hanging on my wall........it is amazing how silly some people can be when it comes to the surf...........hope Beryl didn't give you much grief......
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Barb,
ReplyDeleteThat painting is awesome. My family lives by Dayton and we have visited Ponce quite often on the boat. I love it. Manatees, Dolphins, sharks, clams, crabs..the list goes on and on! Glad to see your happy. What a great place to be just that! Cheers!
I have always loved the spanish moss that hangs from the trees. So pretty.
ReplyDeletelovely photos! how tragic about the young man. my ex-husband lost his son (would be my children's younger half-brother) in much the same manner only due to local flooding. he did something that he knew he shouldn't be doing and lost his life. very tragic.
ReplyDeletelove mynx's paintings (insanely jealous.... j/k - actually very happy for you). she is so talented and it's lovely that she shared her artwork with you.
i hope all is well with you (as much as can be - and then some!)
Love the pictures, keep sharing, I miss the green of the east. Glad you made it through the storm.
ReplyDeleteVery lovely paintings. I think lizards are quite cute. It must be wonderful to own a boat like one of these! I love being on the ocean or lakes. I also like the trees in the South. They look so romantic. The ocean can be a dangerous place to swim. Undertows are tricky and I'm so sorry people get caught in them. Hugs and blessings to you.
ReplyDeleteSo happy you are enjoying the art. It gives me such a thrill to know that something I created is now giving pleasure to someone on the other side of the world.
ReplyDeleteThis move has been good for you. So nice you are finding happiness and new adventures
Great pictures.
ReplyDeleteI need a vacation.
(sigh)
Lovely shots and lucky you to have such lovely paintings!
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures from your friend Barb
ReplyDeleteI know that you will treasure them.
I wouldn't blame you being afraid of storms
after reading about your experiences :(
terrible.........
Love Daytona beach photos too.
I am glad that you are well and getting some
better weather now.
Enjoy.

I'm glad you're ok after that storm. Its weird as we have the opposite warnings here as people were paddling in watery areas that weren't safe so they've been told not to go in. Some people died during our heatwave period. Quite sad.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you should ask Santa for a cruise liner it will have a pool, cinema and drinks on taps! Worth trying anyway.
Daytona is beautiful I hope to get over that way this summer to explore some myself with little man
ReplyDeleteSo nice of Mynx to send you some beautiful art! Lucky girl you! I'm glad you stayed safe in the storm and you are enjoying your exploring! :)
ReplyDeleteOh yes, definitely the third boat BB! You were made for that one! What wonderful paintings from Mynx. Bloggy friends can be just so kind, can't they? Glad that you got to spend another day at the beach and to do some more exploring of your new area. It all looks lovely I must admit. The rain is pouring down as I type this :( Let's hope that there are many more sunny days ahead for us. Big hugs to you my awesome friend.
ReplyDeleteI assure you I shall visit if Santa provides a yacht.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
pretty area. i haven't found a lighthouse since i've been in california. is that weird?
ReplyDeleteI'll take any one of those boats! It's always fun to explore a new area. I'm so glad that I live in a place with zero "real" weather...
ReplyDeleteNature can be so dangerous! I am so pleased to back on line properly after all my recent computer problems and here catching up at last.
ReplyDeletewow, that lighthouse looks alot like the RObert Moses lighthouse here on long island... i'll see if i can find a picture...
ReplyDeleteThe sea is a dangerous entity, like you I am very wary. what a lovely new home gift your friends artwork was, sounds like you are settling in.
